Technical Information

This is short description of software and services I use to keep this site visible.

Software

Everything you see under vyx.net domain is based on Zope application server. This particular site is shown by Silva Web Content Management system. My old pages were created directly on Zope. Another big tool I use is Portal platform Plone, which keeps Hammering Newton visible. This server runs on Ubuntu 6.06 installed in XEN partition.

Services

I use following services:

1. SliceHost which specializes in XEN based virtual private servers. I use 512slice service for hosting of mail, DNS and Zope services. I will eventually also move Plone servers from eApps service.
   
2. eApps, which offers virtual private Linux servers. Essentially you get your own Linux "server", with full administration rights. I started to use this service to play a little with Java based CMS servers, but in the end I just run there my own Zope application server (I have shared instance in Zettai) with multiple Plone sites.
3. DirectNIC to keep my domain vyx.net.
4. SixXS for IPv6 connectivity.
