Thawte Web of Trust

Thawte Web of Trust merges strong points of PGP like "web of trust" security with convenience and widespread use of centralised X.509 based  cryptography.

After registering at Thawte website you can request any number of X.509 certificates for free, but those will not include your real name, unless you collect 50 points by verifying your ID documents with WOT notaries. Each notary can assign you up to 50 points.

After collecting 100 points you can start to act as a notary yourself, at first being able to assign 5 points for ID verification. Number of points which you can assign grows pretty fast with each notarization.

I'm Web of Trust notary for quite a long time. If you wish we could arrange meeting, after which I would assign you 35 points. You need to show me two original ID documents with photos and give photocopies of those. Everything will take about 5 minutes and is completely free.
